Music at Newbald

Music Subject Lead: Mr Flintham

Link Governors: Mrs Merrett

Children enjoy musical experiences as soon as they join in nursery and music plays an important role accross the curriculum. The children accross the whole school enjoy lessons that follow the Kapow scheme. In Key Stage 2 along side lthe Kapow units, all children are taught to play the guitar, This is led by the headteacher, who plays the instrument. Newbald Primary is a 'singing school'. This means that we all enjoy and participate in regular singing activities. Singing is regularly taught in lessons and in whole school singing assemblies. Children sing & perform cross curricular songs linked to their topics and learnt songs form part of class perfomances and Nativities. Children also sing times table songs to ensure that they learn tricky mathematical facts.
