Newbald Key Maths Calculation Methods
•This document sets out the key mathematical calculation methods that Newbald Primary School has identified as essential for pupils to secure as they progress through the school. These methods represent the strategies that we prioritise in teaching, explicitly assess, and provide targeted intervention for where needed, to ensure all pupils remain on track to make excellent progress in mathematics.
•This document should be read in conjunction with the school’s adopted White Rose Calculation Policy and our bespoke KIRFs (Key Instant Recall Facts) document, which identifies the key mathematical facts pupils are expected to learn and recall securely at each stage. Together, these documents provide a coherent and consistent approach to the teaching and learning of calculation at Newbald Primary School.
